Double Glazing Double glazing has two panes of glass in a window instead of one, which cuts down on energy loss through drafts, conduction, and convection. Commercially manufactured double glazing is often sealed in the factory and contains inert gas between the panes to further improve insulation. There are ways of converting single paned windows into double glazed windows using 'secondary double-glazing'. Secondary double-glazing is not as effective as factory sealed units, but does offer a more economical solution.
Double-Hung Window A double hung window has two panes that generally slide over each other. It is also called a sash window when cords are used to raise and lower panes.
Double-Strength Glass Double-strength glass combines daylight illumination with safety. It can be used in bathrooms, half glazed doors, basement windows, or large picture windows for store fronts.
Drip A groove, ledge, or raised area designed to divert water away and prevent it from dripping down a window or door.
