CRF The condensation resistance factor (CRF) indicates how resistant windows are to producing condensation. Single glazed aluminum windows will have a lower CRF than double glazed composite units.
Degree Day This unit of measurement describes the energy requirement for heating a building. It refers to the amount of energy needed to change the temperature in a building by one degree for a day. Poorly insulated buildings will require a higher number degree days than those that are energy efficient.
Desiccant A compound that draws water from the atmosphere; a dessicant is a drying agent placed inside packaging or window frames to prevent condensation.
Divided Light This type of window has several smaller panes divided by muntins (retaining support members). Modern versions are often a single pane, decorated with strips to give a divided pane effect.
DOE-2.1E This is a type of computer simulation program that estimates energy consumption in the design of commercial buildings.
